{"id":44131,"date":"2017-08-29T16:22:19","date_gmt":"2017-08-29T20:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=44131"},"modified":"2017-08-29T16:22:19","modified_gmt":"2017-08-29T20:22:19","slug":"annual-harvest-weekend-event-celebrates-areas-viticulture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=44131","title":{"rendered":"ANNUAL HARVEST WEEKEND EVENT\u00a0CELEBRATES THE AREA\u2019S VITICULTURE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>LEHIGH VALLEY, PA \u2013 <em><span data-term=\"goog_1073264784\">August 29, 2017<\/span><\/em> \u2013\u00a0\u00a0On Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10, the eight locally owned and operated wineries of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail will celebrate the grape harvest during the annual Harvest Weekend event.<\/p>\n<p>The wineries will welcome wine lovers for a variety of different activities and features at each winery, such as wine tastings, vineyard and winery tours, food and wine pairings, food trucks, and live entertainment. Some wineries will also partner with vendors in the state\u2019s Pennsylvania Preferred program. (See below for a complete list of activities.)<\/p>\n<p>Event hours are <span data-term=\"goog_1073264786\">Saturday<\/span> from <span data-term=\"goog_1073264787\">11 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m.<\/span> and <span data-term=\"goog_1073264788\">Sunday<\/span> from <span data-term=\"goog_1073264789\">noon &#8211; 5 p.m.<\/span> Harvest Weekend is a free event, however each winery sets its own fee policy for wine tastings, live music, and vineyard and winery tours. Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harvestweekendlvwt.com\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.harvestweekendlvwt.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1504124054966000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGUVr0ZgiNVozFRwDXnmHWn0bnuZQ\">www.HarvestWeekendLVWT.com<\/a> for complete event details.<\/p>\n<p>The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail is a nonprofit organization of wineries whose mission is to promote agri-tourism and to create a premier wine destination and grape growing region while promoting Pennsylvania wines from the region. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lehighvalleywinetrail.com\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.lehighvalleywinetrail.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1504124054966000&amp;usg=AFQjCNH4eu6XaPqkyWief0_1l_PEan980A\">www.LehighValleyWineTrail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><u>HARVEST WEEKEND 2017 HIGHLIGHTS<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Amore Vineyards, Nazareth<\/strong> &#8211; will serve samples of homemade lasagna with its Cabaret Amore wine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blue Mountain Vineyards, New Tripoli<\/strong> \u2013 will pair Bri\u2019s Blush, made of a blend of Chambourcin and Vignoles grapes, with samples of fresh artisanal bread from The Wayfare Baker. They winery sells the bakery\u2019s sourdough baguettes and will offer samples of other European breads for tasting. They will also have free music from Nick Lindsay <span data-term=\"goog_1073264790\">on Saturday<\/span> from noon &#8211; 4 p.m., and <span data-term=\"goog_1073264792\">Sunday<\/span> Blues with James Supra and Sarah Ayers performing on Sunday from <span data-term=\"goog_1073264794\">2-5 pm<\/span>. Advance reservations for <span data-term=\"goog_1073264795\">Sunday<\/span> Blues are required, and a wine tasting is included with the $5 ticket price.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clover Hill Vineyards, Breinigsville<\/strong> &#8211; will celebrate harvest with its new Harvest Sangria, which will be available to sample as well as for purchase by the glass. They will also have drink recipe cards available. In addition, they will have a farm fresh veggie wagon onsite from Bleiler&#8217;s Produce Patch for customers to purchase locally grown, organic vegetables from their neighboring farm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Franklin Hill Vineyards, Bangor<\/strong> \u2013 will release its new shareable snack menu, and Potion X pumpkin spice wine will make its return to the wine list. Local craft beer and local vendors, such as Kendra\u2019s Buttercup Bakery and McCollians Honey, will be at the winery, and autumn-inspired cocktails will be available for tasting or for purchase by the glass. Hayrides will be offered twice <span data-term=\"goog_1073264796\">on Saturday<\/span> and <span data-term=\"goog_1073264797\">Sunday<\/span>, and there will be winery tours at <span data-term=\"goog_1073264798\">noon and 2 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Galen Glen, Andreas<\/strong> &#8211; will feature guided walking tours of the vineyard and wine cellar at <span data-term=\"goog_1073264799\">1 p.m.<\/span> both days, highlighting the Troxell family\u2019s stewardship of this land for over 200 years. Walking tours are about one hour in length, meandering through our rocky, hillside terrain and are given weather permitting. Please wear appropriate footgear. Tours are $5 per guest and include a glass of wine. Must be over 21.<\/p>\n<p>They will also invite customers to \u201cTaste the Grape, Taste the Wine\u201d by sampling the fresh grape from which the wine being sampled is made (while grapes last).
