font-family: Cambria;\">There\u2019s a definite buzz in the air at <a href=\"http:\/\/statetheatre.org\/\">The State Theatre<\/a>, as they celebrate the beginning of\u00a0 their 91<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">st<\/span><\/sup> season.\u00a0\u00a0 Friday night, Boz Scaggs, performed to a full house.\u00a0 Scaggs, who is no stranger to the Lehigh Valley, has performed at Musikfest and the Sands Event Center several years ago. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">For Scaggs, now in his early seventies, has an amazing career spanning close to fifty years.\u00a0 His musical roots began as a teenager, and around 1959 he joined Steve Miller\u2019s band, \u2018The Marksmen\u2019, as lead vocalist.\u00a0 The relationship between Scaggs and Miller would cross paths several times as the years rolled on.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On to the 70\u2019s where disco music \u00a0ruled the airwaves, it was during this period that Scaggs rose to stardom with his five time platinium Grammy award winning album, \u2018Silk Degrees\u2019 in 1976.\u00a0 Interestingly enough, when Scaggs recorded \u2018Silk Degrees\u2019, he used session musicians, who would later form the rock group, Toto.\u00a0 With over twenty albums released over the years, there was a good chunk of this album performed.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The show opened with \u201cJoJo\u201d\u00a0 (\u2018Middle Man\u2019),\u00a0 followed by \u201cIt\u2019s Over\u201d (\u2018Silk Degrees\u2019).\u00a0 He included a very soulful \u201cThanks to You\u201d (\u2018Dig\u2019), and on acoustic guitar picked up the tempo as the audience clapped along to \u201cHarbor Lights\u201d (\u2018Silk Degrees\u2019).\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">With a quick guitar change back to electric, Scaggs\u00a0 continued with the \u2018Silk Degrees\u2019 playlist with\u00a0 \u201cGeorgia\u201d , followed by \u201cLook What You\u2019ve Done to Me\u201d (Urban Cowboy soundtrack).\u00a0 The audience gave a rousing round of applause, and a small standing ovation.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">As the set neared the end, the anticipation grew as the audience waited for Scaggs biggest and most recognized hits, \u201cLowdown\u201d was performed with that seventies funk and disco bass sound.\u00a0 The set closed with \u201cLido Shuffle\u201d as the house lights came up the audience clapped and sang along, and gave Scaggs a full standing ovation.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">Scaggs returned for an encore, he commented he was going to leave us with a little blues with \u201cSomebody Loan Me a Dime\u201d, which played on for close to twenty minutes, and finished the show with a Chuck Berry song,\u00a0 \u201cYou Never Can Tell.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Boz Scaggs continues on the road in 2017, bringing a rich bouquet of blues, rock, pop, soul and a hint of jazz into his music.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bozscaggs.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;
