Bethlehem, PA \u2013 September 26, 2017 \u2013 As kids head back to school, join PBS39 for an update on the practices and technologies being employed in schools across the Keystone state. Lehigh Valley\u2019s local public media broadcasting station, PBS39, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and the Pennsylvania Technical Training Network (PaTTAN), created and produced a professional training series for teachers in Pennsylvania schools. On September 26 and October 3, a 30-minute 2-part series, Education Update<\/em>,<\/u> will air on PBS39 at 7:00 PM during the station\u2019s Local Hour.<\/p>\n Click HERE<\/a> For Show Promo<\/strong><\/p>\n Filmed in schools throughout the state, the informational presentation explores curriculum that is being taught in Pennsylvania classrooms. With Career and Workforce Readiness as a focus, Dual Enrollment, Advanced Curriculum, and Independent Study Curriculum are a few of the topics that will be featured on October 3rd<\/sup>. The first episode, airing September 26th<\/sup>, focuses on an Innovative Incubator<\/em>, designed to promote computer science understanding and interest for students and features Matthew Stem, PA Deputy Secretary of Education.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are proud of the work highlighted by PBS39 and thank their education team, led by Dr. Teri Haddad, for their ongoing support for public education in the commonwealth,\u201d said Mr. Stem. \u201cOur work continues, and we look forward to future collaboration as Pennsylvania\u2019s education system grows and evolves.\u201d<\/p>\n Pennsylvania is on the leading edge of evidence-based practices in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. By merging a multi-tiered system of support with effective STEM practices, schools look to prepare students for the economy of the future. PaTTAN works with the Bureau of Special Education (BSE) and the PDE to provide a full array of professional development and technical assistance targeted at improving student results. The professional development series, created by PBS39, is designed to assist educator\u2019s professional growth and is one way PaTTAN provides support to schools across the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n \u201cPBS39 is proud to have partnered with the PDE and PaTTAN to produce this important content,\u201d states Dr. Teri Haddad, Chief Learning Officer at PBS39. \u201cWe hope viewers will tune in to witness the significant, innovative work being done in Pennsylvania classrooms.
