\u00a0<\/span>\u201cA firefighter!\u201d That\u2019s a popular response of children when you ask them what they want to be when they grow up. It\u2019s certainly true when you ask the little visitors at Imagi Nation, a fairly new children\u2019s attraction located in the Dorneyville Shopping Center.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Although visitors were able to don a uniform and hat while taking imaginative adventures throughout the pretend city, something was missing \u2013 until now. For the last year, the owners have been working diligently to enhance their fire station exhibit and are thrilled to be able to bring a bit of Lehigh Valley history to their children\u2019s museum.<\/span><\/p>\n On Monday, October 9th, a beautiful 1982 Mack fire truck cab will be unveiled as the latest addition to the \u201clittle world for big thinkers\u201d.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As one of the last fire trucks to be manufactured in the Lehigh Valley, this engine was made specifically for the Northampton Township Fire Department located in nearby Bucks County. It was then sold to the Bucks County Community College for use in their Public Safety Training course and retired to a collector in Castle Creek, New York\u00a0<\/span>where it was discovered and reconditioned for use at Imagi Nation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cResearch shows that role-play is an important part of building a child\u2019s social, emotional, language and cognitive thinking skills, so we\u2019re excited to add this important first responder\u2019s vehicle to our city for children of all ages to enjoy\u201d, owner Wendy Pitts says.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Along with the unveiling of the fire truck, Imagi Nation is also previewing a diner and construction house, all with coordinating educational activities for children ages 3-12. \u201cWe want a child\u2019s experience to be exciting and engaging each time they return and these new exhibits will help us accomplish that goal.\u201d\u00a0 The additions will join a bank, market, manufacturing center, health & dentalclinic, media center, police station and ice cream flavor lab already popular with the preschool and early elementary crowds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Imagi Nation is the Lehigh Valley\u2019s first educational entertainment experience for children with an emphasis on social skill development.
