Our volunteers enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by Cura Hospitality\u00a0and served by Hospitality students at LCCC. Dessert were amazing cupcakes from Helen Kuper of the Cakesmith. Volunteers participated in a tricky tray raffle with lovely prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Meals on Wheels volunteers received awards for 100, 200, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 hours of service. Andy Bednar, Cynthia Caddoo, Don Hoppes and Marty Wieszorek joined our wall of fame with 2500 hours of service.<\/p>\n<p>One of our superhero volunteers was presented with a PA Dept. of Aging &#8220;Volunteer Spotlight Award.&#8221; Virginia Crone, 89, has been volunteering since 1973. Acting Secretary of Aging, Teresa Osborne, presented Virginia with this award. Tom Muller, LC Executive, presented Virginia with a proclamation from Lehigh County and Ellen Kern, Chief of Staff of Senator Pat Browne&#8217;s office, presented Virginia with proclamations from the PA Senate and House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Secretary Osborne said: &#8220;Far too often we underestimate the power of a touch, smile, kind word, listening ear, or the smallest act of caring that can turn a life around. \u00a0And that is what each of you is being honored here do and we are incredibly grateful for your selfless and joy-filled service.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When presenting the State award to Virginia Crone, she said: &#8221; Since 1973, Virginia has been volunteering with Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County either delivered meals or driven the meal route ensuring that others have access to a meal that provides nourishment t for the body and soul.
