The Allentown All-City Band and The Salvation Army\u2019s Pendel Brass &amp; Singers will perform toget<span data-term=\"goog_1595684667\">her on<\/span> this momentous occasion.<\/p>\n<p>The Allentown All-City Band includes members from the Municipal, Pioneer and Marine bands. Members of the Pendel Brass &amp; Singers band will be traveling from across eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware to offer this unforgettable performance.<\/p>\n<p>2015 marks the 150<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of The Salvation Army, the second largest charity in the United States. Originating in 1865 in London, England, the organization championed and provided to the most needy, continuing today to adapt to the needs of communities to \u201cDo The Most Good.\u201d\u00a0 The Salvation Army has been supporting the Lehigh Valley community since 1890, providing services such as emergency food and financial assistance, case management, clothing distribution, after-school tutoring and enrichment, summer day camp, week-long summer camp at Camp Ladore in the Pocono Mountains, music instruction, spiritual counseling, adult education, holiday food and toys, soup kitchen meals, senior citizen programs, winter coat distribution, and recreational activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a truly blessed achievement as we consider the impact of The Salvation Army in our local community,\u201d said Major Alberto Suarez, Lehigh Valley Coordinator.\u00a0 Last year, more than 30 million people were served by The Salvation Army nationally, with nearly 40,000 served in the Lehigh Valley. \u201cWe serve without discrimination through the generous support of donors and sponsors who desire to make a difference in our local community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe City of Allentown is honored to be working alongside such a vital organization like The Salvation Army,\u201d said Lindsay Taylor, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation. \u201cThe city\u2019s Summer Concert Series is one of our flagship programs, and we are very excited to include this special concert showcasing not only terrific musical performances, but celebrating the success of a well-established organization that provides so many services and programs here in Allentown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The May 17 concert is the second concert of the City of Allentown\u2019s Summer Concert Series, a series of more than 50 free concerts held in Allentown from May \u2013 September.
