The conference will feature interactive workshops and presentations for teachers to share professional teaching practices. Cris Tovani will be this year\u2019s keynote speaker.<\/p>\n
Tovani\u2019s career has been spent trying to figure out the \u201cknowing-doing\u201d gap. Researchers tell teachers what they should be doing,\u00a0but actually doing it with 125+ students is a whole new ball game. Throughout her career, Tovani has tried to take reading and writing research and apply it to all levels of learners. She loves sharing her success and failures with colleagues around the world so they too, can better serve students.<\/p>\n
Recently named ILA\u2019s 2017 Adolescent Literacy Thought Leader, Tovani is an internationally known consultant focusing on issues of reading, content comprehension and assessment in secondary classrooms. She has been an adjunct professor and is the author of four books, \u201cI Read it but I Don\u2019t Get It,\u201d \u201cDo I Really Have to Teach Reading?,\u201d \u201cSo, What do They Really Know?\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cNo More Telling as Teaching: Less Lecture, More Engaged Learning.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The cost of the conference is $65.
