Small business owner & Lower Macungie Commissioner seeks to succeed State Representative Ryan Mackenzie, who is vacating to run for Congress.<\/i><\/p>\n
LOWER MACUNGIE \u2013 Conservative small businessman and Lower Macungie Township Commissioner Ron Beitler has entered the race to succeed State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie in the 134th State House district.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy now, it\u2019s no secret that Harrisburg is a mess. What has been a well-kept secret is that the problems can be fixed by honesty, integrity, and common sense,\u201d Beitler said.<\/p>\n
He has promised to term limit himself to a total of eight years in office \u2013 \u201cIf you can\u2019t get the job done in that time, then you shouldn\u2019t be there.\u201d Beitler also has signed a pledge to reject a government pension stating \u201cService is a calling, not a career path – my small business is my career, and when I get the job done in Harrisburg I\u2019ll come home to that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n A fiscal hawk who reduced spending, opposed debt, lowered tax bills and worked to block waste while serving in Lower Macungie, Beitler has said he will support a State Constitutional amendment limiting spending increases. \u201cGovernment needs to live within the same constraints that we do\u201d. <\/strong><\/p>\n Beitler launched his own small business a decade ago which today employs 8 people. Though his business is successful, one year ago he took on a second job tending bar to cover the rising cost of health insurance premiums in the wake of Obamacare. \u201cI understand the struggles of middle class Pennsylvanians, because I am one,\u201d<\/strong> said Beitler.<\/p>\n \u201cAs someone who built a business from the ground up, I know that you can\u2019t spend more than you bring in and then borrow to fill the gaps. This simply passes debt along to our children, which is irresponsible,\u201d Beitler said. \u201cIt\u2019s time that the laws of economics applied to government as well.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Born and raised in the district, Beitler is a proud alumnus of Emmaus High School and Slippery Rock State University.
