Allentown Housing Authority To Host 9th<\/sup> Annual Cumberland Gardens Community Fair<\/strong><\/p>\n

Allentown, Pa.<\/em> — The Allentown Housing Authority will host the 9th Annual Cumberland Gardens Community Fair at Cumberland Gardens on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.<\/span> The Community Fair will be held at the Cumberland Gardens Community Building, located at the corner of East Cumberland and South Ellsworth streets on the city\u2019s Southside.<\/p>\n

\u201cSummer is starting and we want to make the residents aware of positive family oriented activities that are available during the summer months,\u201d said Lenny Jenkins, AHA Social Services Director. \u201cSchool will be out soon and we want to be proactive in making the residents and their children aware of programs and activities that are an alternative to staying at home or maybe getting into trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

AHA has created a number of partnerships in the community to provide services to the residents and many of those partners will be represented Saturday<\/span> and will be available to answer questions and sign residents up for activities. Participating partners include: Allentown Health Bureau, Allentown Police Department, El Faro Bible Fellowship Church, Roosevelt Elementary School,\u00a0 CareerFORCE, Community Services for Children, Lehigh County Juvenile Probation Office, Community Bike Works, Capital Blue Cross., Gateway Health, Muhlenberg College, Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Harkins Builders, Allentown Optimist and Civil Air Patrol are combining forces through the Allentown Health Bureau to add a bicycle derby to the fair this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been a very well-received over the past eight years and we wanted to repeat the program again this year to continue that success,\u201d said Daniel Farrell, AHA Executive Director. \u201cIt\u2019s part of our commitment to keep our neighborhoods safe and make residents aware of the opportunities in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cumberland Gardens is a 200-apartment community managed by the Allentown Housing Authority.<\/p>\n
