{"id":59052,"date":"2018-01-02T17:57:31","date_gmt":"2018-01-02T22:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=59052"},"modified":"2018-04-26T22:21:06","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T02:21:06","slug":"wolf-administration-announces-start-project-rehabilitate-tilghman-street-bridge-city-allentown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=59052","title":{"rendered":"Wolf Administration Announces Start of Project to Rehabilitate Tilghman Street Bridge in City of Allentown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allentown, PA<\/strong> \u2013 The Wolf Administration announced today a project to rehabilitate the Tilghman Street Bridge over the Lehigh River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, waterfront development and local streets in the City of Allentown,Lehigh County will begin on <span data-term=\"goog_1763748440\">January 10<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Tilghman Street Bridge provides a vital link between downtown and east Allentown\u201d, said Governor Wolf. \u201cThis project will not only ensure that this link will exist for years to come, but will also pay tribute to the historical andaesthetic nature of the bridge\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning on <span data-term=\"goog_1763748441\">January 10<\/span>, Tilghman Street will be closed and detoured between Front and Dauphin streets. The posted detour will utilize Front Street, American Parkway, North Bradford Street and Dauphin Street. Motorists are advised toexpect delays and use caution traveling on the detour route.<\/p>\n<p>Pedestrian access will be maintained on the bridge throughout construction.<\/p>\n<p>Work on the project includes bridge rehabilitation, deck replacement, roadway approach reconstruction, lighting upgrades, drainage work, concrete curb and sidewalk upgrades, signing and pavement markings and other miscellaneous construction.<\/p>\n<p>The Tilghman Street Bridge is a 12-span concrete open spandrel arch bridge originally constructed in 1929 and reconstructed in 1995. It is 1,387 feet long and 53 feet wide. This section of Tilghman Street has an average daily trafficof 17,398 vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>D.A.
