Lehigh County Special Olympics offers 11 sports programs at no cost to the athletes:\u00a0 Alpine Skiing, Aquatics, Athletics (track & field), Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Golf, Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball and Volleyball.\u00a0 We are an all-volunteer organization and have no paid staff or coaches.\u00a0 All the funds we receive from fundraisers, businesses, individuals, etc., go directly to benefit the athletes.<\/p>\n
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.<\/p>\n
All training and competition opportunities are provided free of charge to the athletes and their families, enabling everyone to experience the benefits of Special Olympics that extend well beyond the playing field.<\/p>\n
