The Lehigh Valley Community Broadcasters Association, licensee and operator of WDIY, Lehigh Valley\u2019s community NPR station, recently elected two new members to serve on the Board of Directors.<\/p>\n
The two new board members, each elected to a two-year term beginning January 1, 2018, are Ashleigh Strange of Northampton (Service Electric Cable TV) and Cheryl Haughney of Allentown (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach).<\/p>\n
Other officers elected by the board include John Dodds of Center Valley (Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., retired), and Atty. Donald Miles of Bethlehem, who will serve as vice president and secretary, respectively. Re-elected as officers were Karen El-Chaar, president (Friends of the Allentown Parks and Recreation) and Eric Rusack (Vice President, Dun & Bradstreet).<\/p>\n
Elected to new two-year terms as directors were Rob Stevens of Allentown (Lehigh Valley Hospital Network); Kamran Afshar of Bethlehem (Kamran Afshar Associates Inc.); Carole Moretz of Bethlehem (Lehigh Valley Hospital Network, retired); Mike Riess of Bethlehem (Interprovincial Board of Communication, Moravian Church in North America); and Dave Fry of Bethlehem (musician).<\/p>\n
Continuing to serve as directors are Charles James of Bethlehem (St. Luke\u2019s University Hospital Network); Geoff Chambers of Egypt (Powerschool); Deb Carey of Hellertown (Merchants Bank of Bangor); Vickie Breiner of Allentown (Quakertown School District); Juddy Parr of Bethlehem (Lehigh University); and Bill Dautremont-Smith of Orefield (Lucent, retired). The station’s staff of six employees is led by executive director Wagner Previato.<\/p>\n
WDIY has over 140 volunteers, about 90 of whom host on-air programs. The station’s schedule includes national news and entertainment from the NPR network, locally-produced public affairs shows, and a wide range of music, including classical, album-oriented rock, folk, blues, jazz, and world music.<\/p>\n
