{"id":63770,"date":"2018-02-08T22:45:55","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T03:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=63770"},"modified":"2018-02-08T22:52:20","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T03:52:20","slug":"southside-arts-music-festival-announces-additional-free-concerts-event-april-20-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=63770","title":{"rendered":"SOUTHSIDE ARTS &#038; MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL FREE CONCERTS FOR EVENT APRIL 20-21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Featured Image:\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Roi and the Secret People &#8211; courtesy of\u00a0Lehigh Valley Underground<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shows, presented by Lehigh Valley Underground and ArtsQuest, are designed to draw guests to South Bethlehem\u2019s restaurants, pubs and businesses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>BETHLEHEM, PA\u2014An acclaimed singer-songwriter playing amid the pottery of Color Me Mine, and the alt-country sounds of Acoustic Kitty Project at the Comfort Suites, are part of the diverse music experiences SouthSide Arts &amp; Music Festival (SSAMF) attendees can enjoy for free thanks to a new partnership between ArtsQuest and <a href=\"https:\/\/lehighvalleyunderground.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lehigh Valley Underground<\/a>, the region\u2019s premier website dedicated to promoting the Lehigh Valley\u2019s indie music scene.<\/p>\n<p>During SSAMF, music lovers can purchase a ticket to see acts like 2018 GRAMMY winners The Infamous Stringdusters, indie rockers Delta Rae, singer-songwriter Dar Williams and Talking Heads Tribute \u201cStart Making Sense\u201d performing at five SouthSide music and arts venues.\u00a0 In addition, South Bethlehem will come alive with 10 additional free concerts at venues like Molly\u2019s Irish Grille &amp; Sports Pub, Domaci and Sotto Santi. The partnership between Lehigh Valley Underground and the nonprofit ArtsQuest pushes the total number of musical acts at this year\u2019s festival to more than 30 in all, with live music taking place in 10 different venues throughout the SouthSide during the two-day event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArtsQuest is our region\u2019s premier arts and culture organization, so partnering with them on the SouthSide Arts &amp; Music Festival is a tremendous honor,\u201d says Gerard Longo, Founder\/Editor-in-Chief of Lehigh Valley Underground. \u201cThis partnership will provide 10 local performing artists with a meaningful opportunity to share their passions with new audiences, while increasing the visibility of several South Bethlehem businesses throughout the weekend.\u201d<br \/>\nAmong the artists attendees can enjoy for free are <strong>Julia Sommer<\/strong>, performing at Color Me Mine <span data-term=\"goog_641170100\">April 20, 6:30 p.m.<\/span> The winner of Discover Lehigh Valley\u2019s \u201cDiscovered\u201d New Artist Award at the 2017 Lehigh Valley Music Awards, Sommer is an 18-year-old singer\/songwriter who has performed at Highline Ballroom in New York City, Hotel Bethlehem, The Sands Event Center and Musikfest. In 2016, she auditioned for NBC\u2019s \u201cThe Voice.\u201d This year, she was selected to perform in the finals of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame\u2019s High School Rock Off competition <span data-term=\"goog_641170101\">Feb. 17<\/span>.<br \/>\n<strong>Roi and the Secret People<\/strong>, who perform at Comfort Suites\u2019 Hill to Hill Grille April 20, 6:30 p.m., are renowned for their exciting live shows,\u00a0having played clubs like Rockwood Music Hall and Mercury Lounge\u00a0in\u00a0New York City\u00a0and\u00a0The World Live Cafe,\u00a0North Star Bar and The Tin Angel in\u00a0Philadelphia. In\u00a02015, the quintet rocked Musikfest as one of the bands presented by Liberty High School as part of the \u201cMarketing Musikfest\u201d program.<\/p>\n<p>If alt-country sounds are your favorite genre, then check out <strong>Acoustic Kitty Project<\/strong>, which performs at Hill to Hill Grille <span data-term=\"goog_641170103\">April 21, 6:30 p.m.<\/span> Whether playing as a solo acoustic act, or as a five-piece band, the Acoustic Kitty Project delivers gutsy, passionate performances every time.
