Allentown, Pa. (Feb. 5, 2018) \u2014 Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre will hold open auditions on Feb. 25 and 26<\/span>. Performers will be cast for the season\u2019s mainstage productions: \u201cDisney\u2019s Beauty and the Beast,\u201d performing June 14 \u2013 July 1<\/span>, and \u201cHow to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,\u201d performing July 11-29<\/span>.<\/p>\n The following audition details can also be found online, at muhlenberg.edu\/smt<\/a>.<\/p>\n Preliminary vocal auditions will be held for both \u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d and \u201cHow to Succeed\u201d on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2\u20136 p.m. and 7\u201311 p.m.<\/span>, and Monday, Feb. 26, 5\u20138 p.m.<\/span> and 9\u201311 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n Preliminary dance auditions will be held Sunday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m. \u2013 1 p.m.<\/span>, and Monday, Feb. 26, 5\u20137 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n All auditions will take place at Muhlenberg College, at the Baker Center for the Arts and the Trexler Pavilion for Theatre & Dance.<\/p>\n All auditioners must register in advance and schedule an audition.<\/strong> Auditioners should visit the Summer Music Theatre website, at muhlenberg.edu\/smt<\/a>, and follow the link to the registration form. Auditioners without internet access may call the Theatre & Dance office at 484-664-3087<\/a>, during regular office hours before Wednesday, Feb. 21<\/span>.<\/p>\n All auditioners should prepare an excerpt from one song, no longer than one minute in length. The selection should show range, vocal quality and character. Auditioners interested in more than one show will still only sing one piece. Please avoid vocal selections from contemporary pop rock musicals. Songs from musicals written before 1980 are preferred. More information is posted on the website. Auditioners should bring two copies of a clear photo of themselves, not necessarily a headshot.<\/p>\n Boys ages 7-12 may<\/span> audition for the role of Chip in “Beauty and the Beast,” on Sunday, Feb. 25, 1-2 p.m.<\/span> All other auditioners must be at least 18 years old.<\/p>\n All actors participating in Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre productions are paid a stipend. Out-of-town actors are provided with free housing. We will consider casting Equity members on guest artist contracts.<\/p>\n Auditioners who live too far away from the Allentown area or who are unable to attend auditions may submit a preliminary video audition. The video should consist of one song (see guidelines above). Please send a link to a video hosted on the internet; e.g., YouTube or Vimeo. Do not send attached files via email.<\/p>\n Auditioners who receive a callback must attend in person to be considered for a role. Callbacks will include dance and acting auditions, reading from the script.\u00a0Callbacks will be held on Sunday, March 11. Auditioners must attend callbacks in person (not by video submission) unless previous arrangements have been made.<\/p>\n \u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d will be directed<\/strong> by Gary John La Rosa, with choreography by Ann Cooley and musical direction by Ed Bara. Rehearsals are May 22 through June 13, Tuesday<\/span> through Sunday<\/span> from 1 to 5 p.m.<\/span> and 7 to 11 p.m.\u00a0 Performances are June 14 through July 1, Thursday<\/span> and Friday<\/span> at 7 p.m.<\/span>, Saturday<\/span> at 2 and 8 p.m.<\/span> and Sunday<\/span> at 2 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHow to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying\u201d will be directed <\/strong>by Charles Richter, with choreography by Karen Dearborn and musical direction by Bryan Wade. Rehearsals are June 19 through July 10<\/span>, Tuesday<\/span> through Sunday<\/span> from 1 to 5 p.m and 7 to 11 p.m.<\/span> Performances are July 11-29<\/span>, Wednesday<\/span> through Saturday<\/span> at 8 p.m.<\/span> and Sunday<\/span> at 2 p.m.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Non-performing opportunities<\/strong> are available for technicians and costumers. Carpenters, electricians, props technicians, light board and sound board operators, and stage crew are needed for productions. Costumers, first hand, stitchers, and wardrobe running crew are needed in the costume shop.<\/p>\n The application deadline for technicians, costumers, and administrative personnel is March 9<\/span>.
