BETHLEHEM, PA\u2014Hard rocking \u201cbad boy\u201d of country music Brantley Gilbert comes to Musikfest for a headlining performance at the Sands Steel Stage Fri., Aug. 10, 7 p.m.<\/span> Tickets are $54-$79 and go on sale starting Tues., Feb. 20, 10 a.m.<\/span>, to ArtsQuest Members and Fri., Feb. 23, 10 a.m.<\/span>, to the public at www.musikfest.org<\/a> and 610-332-3378<\/a>.<\/p>\n Starting as a songwriter in Nashville, Gilbert launched his singing career in 2009 with the album \u201cModern Day Prodigal Son.\u201d In 2011 he joined forces with all-star country producer Dann Huff to release \u201cHalfway to Heaven\u201d featuring singles the “Country Must Be Country Wide” and “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do,\u201d which both went to number one on Billboard\u2019s Hot Country Songs chart. As part of his tour that year, Gilbert played Musikfest\u2019s Plaza Tropical.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Gilbert was named Top New Male Artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2013, and in 2014 won the American Music Award for Favorite Country Album for \u201cJust As I Am.\u201d He\u2019s now one of only four country artists with back-to-back platinum certified albums among greats like Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban.<\/p>\n With 2017\u2019s \u201cThe Devil Don\u2019t Sleep,\u201d the songwriter again worked with Huff to capture the slow burn of electric guitars, crashing drums and acoustic flourishes that define the heavy country fused with hard rock edge of Gilbert\u2019s musical attack. Hits from the album include \u201cIt\u2019s About To Get Dirty,\u201d \u201cBullet In A Bonfire\u201d and \u201cTried To Tell Ya.\u201d<\/p>\n The Brantley Gilbert concert is supported by media partner Cat Country 96. One of the largest music festivals in the nation, Musikfest features more than 500 performances on 16 stages throughout Bethlehem over 10 days. Proceeds from Musikfest 2018 will support ArtsQuest\u2019s free concerts and programming for the community year-round at the Banana Factory arts center and the SteelStacks arts and cultural campus.
