BETHLEHEM, PA–Indie duo Slingshot Dakota, folksinger Dave Fry and blues musician James Supra lead the list of performers for the 19th Lehigh Valley Music Awards presented by Tri Outdoor March 4, 4 p.m.<\/span>, at Musikfest Caf\u00e9 presented by Yuengling, located at the ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem. Tickets cost $20 and are now on sale at www.steelstacks.org<\/a> and 610-332-3378<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before their first appearance at Musikfest in 2014, the husband-and-wife team of Slingshot Dakota were still relatively unknown outside of the Lehigh Valley after more than 10 years of tearing up the local rock scene. Now the Bethlehem-based pop-punk duo has hit their stride with the release of their third album and first music video; features in national publications including NPR, VICE\u2019s Noisey and Brooklyn Vegan and standout shows in Austin, Texas for SXSW 2016.<\/p>\n

Also taking the stage are singer-songwriter Kayla Avitabile along with James Supra, 2016 Lifetime Achievement winner Dave Fry and The Todd Wolfe Band, led by Todd Wolfe, formerly a guitarist with Sheryl Crow.<\/p>\n

Frank DiBussolo & Sal Ritz to be Honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards at LVMA19<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eight-time GRAMMY-nominated guitarist Frank DiBussolo and the late Sal Ritz will be among 10 recipients of distinguished awards for outstanding contributions to the region\u2019s music scene at the 19th Lehigh Valley Music Awards presented by Tri Outdoor.
\nA classically trained jazz musician, DiBussolo has played with greats such as Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey and Bucky Pizzarelli. He performs frequently throughout the region and has also been coordinator of jazz studies for the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts. He received the Lehigh Valley Music Awards\u2019 20-year veteran award in 2016.
\nRitz, whose career spanned five decades, passed away Aug. 7, 2017 shortly after playing a show at Musikfest. Originally from Phillipsburg, N.J., he performed for more than 50 years in solo, duo, trio, band and orchestra shows in the region. He was also involved with musicals at local high schools, including 10 years at Saucon Valley and as audio stage manager for the live production of the Easton State Theatre\u2019s Freddy Awards.<\/p>\n

DiBussolo and Ritz will both receive Lifetime Achievement Awards.<\/p>\n

Winner of Lehigh Valley Music Awards Board of Directors citations will be John Millington, hip-hop artist Adlib and blues-rock guitarist Todd Wolfe, who played with Sheryl Crow from 1993-98. Jamie Balliet, the State Theatre\u2019s senior vice president of marketing, will receive a Special Recognition Award, and 20 Year Veteran Awards will go to Bill Lance, Liz Younger, Greg Geist, Keith \u201cMoon\u201d Reichard, Monty Leach and Robin & Jim Duo.<\/p>\n

A partnership between the nonprofit Greater Lehigh Valley Music Association (GLVMA) and ArtsQuest, the Lehigh Valley Music Awards are designed to celebrate the region\u2019s vibrant music industry. During the awards ceremony March 4, the GLVMA will present awards honoring the region\u2019s best performers in a variety of genres including blues, rock, folk, gospel, hip-hop and jazz, as well as recognize local music schools, recording studios, music stores and other local music organizations.<\/p>\n
