{"id":6954,"date":"2015-07-08T21:33:34","date_gmt":"2015-07-09T01:33:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=6954"},"modified":"2015-07-08T21:35:21","modified_gmt":"2015-07-09T01:35:21","slug":"allentowns-arts-park-gets-splash-of-color","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=6954","title":{"rendered":"ALLENTOWN\u2019S ARTS PARK GETS SPLASH OF COLOR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Downtown arts organizations make the most of Chamber grant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Twenty colorful banners have been installed on the lamp posts in Arts Park at Fifth and Court Streets in Allentown to help identify the Park for residents and visitors alike. The banners include an Arts Park logo along with the names of five arts organizations that border the Park or are within walking distance: Allentown Art Museum, The Baum School of Art, Community Music School, Miller Symphony Hall, and Youth Education in the Arts (YEA). These organizations applied jointly for a Main Street grant that was approved by the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The Chamber grant paid for half of the banners, while the arts organizations split the cost of the rest. The banners were installed by the City of Allentown\u2019s Parks and Recreation Department.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cArts Park is at the center of Allentown\u2019s Arts District, and with the recent opening of Three City Center on the south side of the park it has become a focal point of activity in the new downtown,\u201d said Chris Potash, marketing manager at the Art Museum, which submitted the grant application for the group. \u201cThe banners will help brand the Park as a meeting place, especially before or after an event at one of the arts partners\u2019 locations.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Arts Park banners were designed by the Media Arts Group (MAG), the in-house agency at the Morning Call Media Group.
