The William Allen baseball and softball fields are the places to be for youth baseball enthusiasts on Sunday, April 29<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0 That\u2019s when the City of Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation will conduct a free Major League Baseball\u00ae Jr. Home Run Derby\u2122 and Scotts\u00ae Major League Baseball\u00ae Pitch Hit & Run\u2122 competition beginning at 1:00pm.<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/u><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

Pitch Hit & Run\u2122 is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball\u00ae and will be contested on the baseball field.\u00a0 Boys and girls will have a chance to test their core baseball\/softball skills in four age divisions: 7\/8, 9\/10, 11\/12, and 13\/14.\u00a0 The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each division age group will advance to the Sectional Level of competition with the hope of advancing through four levels, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals during All-Star Week\u00ae.<\/u><\/u><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

The Home Run Derby\u2122 will be contested on the softball field.\u00a0 Boy and girl competitors are divided into two age divisions: 12 and under and 14 and under.\u00a0 Local champions from both age divisions will advance to the Regional Level.\u00a0 Regional champions will advance to the National Finals which will take place during MLB\u00ae All-Star Week\u2122.<\/u><\/u><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

Participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration\/waiver form prior to the start of each of the two competitions.<\/u><\/u><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n
