Funeral Home Purchase Melds More than a Century of Combined Service, Experience and Friendships<\/p>\n

\"Cantelmi<\/a>BETHLEHEM, PA (JULY 16, 2015)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Cantelmi Funeral Home of Fountain Hill has purchased the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem.\u00a0 The announcement was made by Dino Cantelmi Jr.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great excitement that we announce the uniting of two outstanding funeral home establishments dedicated to serving families and the community for more than a century combined,\u201d said the 47 year old Cantelmi.\u00a0 His father, Dino Cantelmi Sr. founded Cantelmi Funeral Home in 1963, in South Side of Bethlehem,\u00a0 then relocated to Fountain Hill.<\/p>\n

Cantelmi notes both locations will maintain operations at their current addresses.\u00a0Families that have been served by the Long Funeral Home in the past will find business as usual — even the Long name will remain, he adds. Michael Long, 57, son of Wallace (Wally) Long, will continue to serve as Supervisor of the Long Funeral Home. Michael says his staff of eight will remain as he oversees day to day operations at the Linden Street facility. Often referred to by locals as \u201cThe White House of Bethlehem,\u201d The Long Funeral Home, built in 1915 as a private home for E.J. Mathews, a Bethlehem Steel executive, is noted for its grand Neoclassical Revival architecture.\u00a0 The historic property today remains beautifully intact, from colored stain glass pocket doors, to sweeping stairways, marble fireplace, and other elegant details of yore.<\/p>\n

As longtime colleagues and friends, Wally Long, and Dino Sr., focused their entire lives on service and compassion to serve generations of families in the Lehigh Valley.<\/p>\n

Dino Sr. and Wally first met in the early 60s, and were known to socialize, travel and work frequently together.\u00a0 The five decade long friendship in more recent years often included the two discussing the union of the two businesses. Both Dino Jr. and Mike are actively involved in the community and a variety of volunteer efforts. The combination of the two noted family names in funeral service brings a renewed commitment to personalized service, adds Cantelmi.
