ALLENTOWN<\/strong>,\u00a0 Luis and Dalila Luna, owners of Luna\u2019s Bakery, Allentown\u2019s only family-owned bakery featuring Latino specialties, plan to open a second location with an eat-in caf\u00e9 by late summer. The Lunas completed the purchase of their second location at 709 Union Boulevard in East Allentown on May 11.<\/p>\n

Jeff Barber of Lehigh Financial Group LLC in Allentown helped the Lunas secure a Small Business Administration loan to finance the acquisition of real estate, new equipment and working capital for the new location, which will be called Luna\u2019s Bakery and Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur customers are always asking us to open a larger bakery\/caf\u00e9 where they can sit down and eat our pastries, breads and sandwiches and that has ample parking,\u201d Dalila Luna said. \u201cNow we are.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new location will have eight tables where customers can dine in. It also will have parking for more than 20 cars. The location will be able to serve the Eastside of Allentown and the West Bethlehem area.<\/p>\n

The menu at both bakeries will be the same and feature Puerto Rican favorites including quesitos (cream cheese pastries), pastelillos (turnovers) and Pan sobao\u00a0or Pan de manteca (rubbed bread or lard bread).\u00a0The bakeries also will sell cakes and Cuban sandwiches. All baking will be done on the premises.<\/p>\n

The location on Union Boulevard had been a Dunkin\u2019 Donuts and an ice cream shop before it closed. Ayon Codner, vice president at KW Commercial-The James Balliet Commercial Group in South Whitehall Township, was the real estate agent who represented the sale for the buyers and sellers.<\/p>\n

Luna\u2019s original location is at 1120 W. Linden Street. Both locations will be open seven days a week starting at 7 a.m. The closing hours for the second location have not been finalized.<\/p>\n

The purchase price was not disclosed.<\/p>\n
