BETHLEHEM, PA\u2013New digital arts and glass flame working programs for teens, nature-themed STEAM Art camp and a Musikfest photography session highlight the dynamic camp lineup at ArtsQuest\u2019s Banana Factory arts center this summer. The 2018 summer session, featuring weeklong camps for ages 4-17, runs June 11-Aug. 24<\/span>. Highlighting the 2018 camp lineup is \u201cSTEAM Art Camp: Creative Adventures\u201d for children ages 4-9. Creativity runs wild at these camps, where students are immersed in a world of imaginative and innovative projects and art lessons that are inspired by nature and cultures in different habitats all over the world. Within each session, students will be grouped by age and will explore mixed media, drawing, painting, fiber arts, printmaking, sculpture, metalwork, jewelry and more.<\/p>\n

Themes include Oceans, Forests, Arctic Tundra, Rainforests, Deserts and Lakes. In a full-day session, young artists rotate through four course offerings in 2- and 3-dimensional art. At the end of each week-long camp session, students will demonstrate and display their work at an art party for family and friends.\u00a0 New this year, sessions for campers ages 4-9 will conclude with a visiting artist workshop from professionals throughout the Lehigh Valley that relate to STEAM education. Guest speakers will include staff of Wildlands Conservancy, American Society for Civil Engineers and more. Campers will also contribute to a collaborative exhibition that will be displayed in Familienplatz\u2019s Crayola Creativity Tent at Musikfest 2018.<\/p>\n

Also new this year are Digital Art, Felted Wool Monsters, Glass Flame Working, Mixed Media Patterns, Mosaic Mirror Making, Resin Jewelry Creations and Weaving & Wall Hangings Pre-teen (ages 10-12) and Teen (ages 13-18) Young Artist Studio Intensives. Designed with young artists in mind, these programs build foundational skills by providing exploratory workshops in a variety of artistic media.<\/p>\n

Additional camps include Pre-Teen PHOTOPASS at Musikfest and Capturing Musikfest, which provide exclusive access to Musikfest stages as young artists learn the ins and outs of concert photography and video production.<\/p>\n

Banana Factory camps run 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.<\/span>, and parents can sign up their kids up for full- or half-day sessions. Also available are before-care (8-9 a.m.<\/span>) and after-care (3:30-6 p.m.<\/span>), making it easier than ever for families to take advantage of the art center\u2019s diverse summer camp lineup.<\/p>\n
