Tony Kishman from Broadway\u2019s \u201cBeatlemania\u201d and formerly with the Classical Mystery Tour will present \u201cLive and Let Die: A Symphonic Tribute to the Music of Paul McCartney<\/a>,\u201d<\/strong> at 7:30 p.m.<\/span> July 21<\/span> at Allentown\u2019s Miller Symphony Hall<\/p>\n The Allentown Symphony Orchestra will pay tribute to the music of Paul McCartney in a Pops concert.<\/strong><\/p>\n Tickets for the Pops series \u2014 which also will include a program of Broadway tenors, a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and a program of Disney music \u2014 go on sale 10 a.m.<\/span> Friday JUNE 1st<\/span> at the box office at 23 N. 6th St., Allentown<\/a>, at 610-432-6715 and www.millersymphonyhall.org<\/a>. Tickets start at $25 plus fees.<\/p>\n New this season will be an afternoon chamber music series, with Sunday<\/span> afternoon performances at 3 p.m. Oct. 7<\/span>, Nov. 4<\/span>, Feb. 24, 2019 and May 12, 2019<\/span>. Single tickets are $25 advance, $30 at the door, or $90 for the series.<\/p>\n A Pops concert will pay tribute to the music of Ella Fitzgerald\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n McCartney is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> inductee (solo and with The Beatles) and an 18-time Grammy Award winner. He has written or co-written 32 songs that have reached No. 1 on Billboard\u2019s singles chart, such as \u201cPenny Lane\u201d and \u201cLive and Let Die.\u201d His Beatles song \u201cYesterday\u201d has been recorded by more than 2,200 artists, making it among the most-covered songs in popular music history.<\/p>\n The classical series will open 7:30 p.m.<\/span> Sept. 22<\/span> and 3 p.m.<\/span> Sept. 23<\/span> with \u201c2001: A Space Odyssey & Grieg,\u201d with pianist George Li performing Grieg\u2019s Piano Concerto in A minor. The program consists of works by Wagner, Grieg and Strauss. A free meet-the-artist will be noon<\/span> Sept. 21<\/span>.<\/p>\n Actor Daniel Roebuck will narrate Copland\u2019s \u201cLincoln Portrait\u201d using excerpts from the Gettysburg Address.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The Armistice Day program will consist of works inspired by the experiences of soldiers from World War I. Roebuck, who has been on TV shows such as \u201cMatlock,\u201d \u201cNCIS\u201d and \u201cLost,\u201d will narrate Copland\u2019s \u201cLincoln Portrait\u201d using excerpts from the Gettysburg Address. Also, Daniel Rodriguez, known as The Singing Policeman, will perform the national anthem and \u201cGod Bless America.\u201d<\/p>\n Tickets for the classical series start at $25, with shows free for students 21 or younger. Also in the classical series will be:<\/p>\n \u201cAppalachian Spring & Rhapsody in Blue,\u201d<\/strong> 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9, 2019<\/span>, and 3 p.m. Feb. 10, 2019<\/span>. The program of Gershwin and ballet choreographed for Copland\u2019s \u201cAppalachian Spring Suite\u201d will feature jazz pianist Simon Mulligan on two songs.<\/p>\n \u201cA Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream,\u201d <\/strong>7:30 p.m. March 16, 2019<\/span>, and 3 p.m. March 17, 2019<\/span>. A free meet-the-artist will be noon March 15, 2019<\/span>. It will feature Shakespeare-inspired music with actors from the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival and singers from Parkland High School\u2019s Women\u2019s Chorale.<\/p>\n \u201cVerdi\u2019s Requiem,\u201d<\/strong> 7:30 p.m. April 13, 2019<\/span> and 3 p.m. April 14, 2019<\/span>. Soloists Capathia Jenkins, Aisha de Haas and Nikki Renee, who have performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway, on television and in films, sing selections from Ella Fitzgerald.<\/p>\n \u201cDisney in Concert: A Dream is a Wish,\u201d<\/strong> 7:30 p.m. May 11, 2019<\/span>. Allentown Symphony Orchestra performs to clips of such films as \u201cFrozen,\u201d \u201cThe Little Mermaid,\u201d \u201cThe Lion King,\u201d \u201cAladdin\u201d and more.<\/p>\n The family concert series will be:<\/p>\n \u201cTo The Moon And Back!\u201d <\/strong>It will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing with film from NASA at 2 p.m. Feb. 23, 2019<\/span>. Pieces by Strauss, Debussy and Beethoven, and the \u201cStar Wars\u201d theme, will be accompanied by a film from NASA. Tickets start at $30; students under 21 free.<\/p>\n Tchaikovsky\u2019s \u201cNutcracker,\u201d <\/strong>Repertory Dance Theatre will perform the holiday classic with music by the Allentown Symphony Orchestra at 2 p.m.<\/span> Dec. 8 and 9<\/span>.
