These kids are stuck trying to fit into a world that wasn’t designed to accommodate their unique way of being. Their challenges are many. But for the parents who love them, their challenges are just as hard. They’re overwhelmed, misunderstood, and isolated, which is ironic considering their kids are in every classroom across the country. Debbie knows this because she is one of these parents.

But now there’s hope. Sharing Debbie’s eye-opening journey with her son, Asher, who is twice exceptional (he has ADHD, Asperger’s, and is highly gifted), Differently Wired is a how-to, a manifesto, a book of wise advice, and the best kind of been-there, done-that companion. On the one hand it’s a book of saying NO, and how it’s time to say no to trying to fit your round-peg kid into society’s square holes, no to educational and social systems that don’t respect your child, no to the anxiety and fear that keep parents stuck. And then it’s a book of YES. By offering 18 paradigm shifts—what she calls “tilts”— Reber shows how to change everything.

Before becoming a writer and coach, Debbie worked in TV and video production, producing documentaries and PSAs for CARE and UNICEF, working on Blue’s Clues for Nickelodeon, and developing original series for Cartoon Network. She has an MA in Media Studies from the New School for Social Research and a BA in Communications from Pennsylvania State University. Originally from the U.S., Debbie currently lives with her son and husband in the Netherlands. When she’s not homeschooling Asher, working on TiLT, or writing books, she’s running, traveling, and reading.

For more information about the programs or events at Let’s Play Books Bookstore, contact Kirsten Hess at Kirsten@letsplaybooks.com or visit www.letsplaybooks.com.

Information and image provided to TVL by:
Kirsten Hess
Let’s Play Books Bookstore
244 Main St.
Emmaus, PA 18049
610-928-8600

… Click here to read more...
"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[14,69,482

post-78015","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-calendar-events","category-in-the-valley","category-press-release-2
