CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Allentown <\/b>has volunteer opportunities for youth (age 13+): Gardening Helper – water\/weed the gardens; Resident Visitor – spend time visiting with a resident outdoors, weather permitting, or inside on a bad weather day. Volunteer for a two or three hour shift between 9:30am-3pm.<\/span><\/span> Training provided. COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown <\/b>is looking for volunteers to teach the class in their Earn-a-Bike program. This program teaches students (ages 9-17) basic bike mechanics and safety over a 12 week course. Mentors aid students as they fix their bike and learn communication and teamwork skills. Upon completion of the course, students earn their refurbished bike and a new helmet. No mechanic experience is necessary. Volunteers are needed to be “spotters” for individuals with various disabilities as they learn how to ride a conventional 2-wheel bike. Arts & crafts, physical activities, games, song and discussion help campers learn new healthy ways to cope with the strong feelings that often emerge after a significant loss.
