Obama-Endorsed Candidate Susan Wild Headlines September Political Forum<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Second Annual \u201cProgress in Politics\u201d Conference Set for Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Allentown <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

Allentown, PA \u2013 Over the past year the political landscape has certainly changed, and Lehigh County Commissioner Amy Zanelli will once again open the dialogue for discussion of the major issues affecting Valley residents during her second annual “Progress in Politics<\/a>\u201d forum.\u00a0 \u201cWomen are grossly underrepresented in government and politics,\u201d Zanelli said. \u00a0\u201cThe only way we can fix this is if we voice the issues important to us, stick together and help each other every way we can.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Susan Wild, the Democratic candidate in the Lehigh Valley\u2019s 7<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> Congressional District, will be among the panelists and keynote speakers during the Sunday<\/span> brunch event in Allentown.\u00a0 Wild is one of 81 candidates nationwide who former President Barack Obama has chosen to support. Obama announced August 1<\/span>st<\/span><\/sup> that Wild would be one of five Democratic candidates in Pennsylvania that he would be supporting. All proceeds from \u201cProgress in Politics\u201d will benefit the Susan Wild for Congress campaign. The 7<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> District is one of the newly configured districts created when the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ordered that the formerly configured districts were unfairly delineated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Easton artist Karolina Davis will be unveiling her latest work of art entitled \u201cFake News,\u201d a collaborative multimedia piece with photographer Adam Atkinson that includes photography, video and a large banner installation.<\/p>\n

Last year, over 100 students, seniors, laborers, public officials, judges, working parents and minorities, all powerful advocates for equality, minority representation and women in politics, attended \u201cProgress in Politics\u201d to share stories about grassroots politics and to support local and statewide candidates.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zanelli, the first openly gay Lehigh County Commissioner, organized the event to spotlight the common issues shared by those who have seen the impact of grassroots advocacy on representation in government.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cProgress in Politics\u201d will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018<\/span> at The Palace<\/a>, 623 Hanover Ave, Allentown, PA 18109<\/a>.\u00a0 Tickets are $50 per person.<\/p>\n
