{"id":8129,"date":"2015-08-31T20:12:17","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T00:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=8129"},"modified":"2015-08-31T20:14:22","modified_gmt":"2015-09-01T00:14:22","slug":"httpwww-thevalleyledger-comp1904-37","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=8129","title":{"rendered":"County Exec Muller Releases 2016 Budget with NO TAX INCREASE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>County Exec Muller Releases 2016 Budget with NO TAX INCREASE<br \/>\n<\/strong>Includes Investments in Public Safety, CedarBrook Renovation, Farmland Preservation<\/p>\n<p><strong>(Allentown)<\/strong> Lehigh County Executive Tom Muller today released his administration\u2019s 2016 Proposed Budget at a news conference at the Cedarbrook Nursing Home.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis year\u2019s budget includes no tax increase,\u201d said Muller. \u201cIt\u2019s thanks to Lehigh County\u2019s employees who work hard all year to manage our taxpayers\u2019 money frugally that I am able to continue to propose budgets without a tax increase.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Muller\u2019s 2016 Budget includes another year without a millage rate increase for Lehigh County\u2019s taxpayers. The total budget is $382.5 million, which represents an increase of less than five percent and is a result of proposed capital spending on Cedarbrook and increased pass-through funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. It also maintains adequate cash reserves.<\/p>\n<p>The budget includes a $40 million bond issuance, $25 million of which would be earmarked for much-needed renovations to the Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Allentown.
