CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem <\/b>needs volunteers to assist with their 11th<\/span><\/sup> Annual Wings of Hope Butterfly Release benefiting local cancer patients from 9am-1pm<\/span><\/span> on Saturday, September 8<\/span><\/span> at Cedar Crest College. Motivated people are needed to spread the word about this Celebration of Life event, where community members can honor and\/or remember loved ones. CENTER FOR CAREER PATHWAYS AND LITERACY, Allentown <\/b>is looking for volunteer tutors for its adult literacy program. Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with adults looking to obtain their GED. Tutors also needed for English as a Second Language. Tutoring times are flexible. Resources and materials will be provided. COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE OF LEHIGH VALLEY, SBR PROGRAM – <\/b>Slate Belt Rising needs volunteers from 11am-5pm<\/span><\/span> on September 30<\/span><\/span> for their “The Slate Belt Bash” in Portland, PA. The event consists of a road rally scavenger hunt, games, food vendors, and live entertainment. Volunteers are needed to supervise games and for clean-up. EQUI-LIBRIUM, Nazareth <\/b>needs volunteers (age 14+) to be horse leaders and side helpers to assist during horseback riding and cart driving lessons for children and adults with special needs. Volunteers will be assigned to the same participant for one hour once a week for 11 weekly sessions. Volunteers are also needed for Special Events and doing work around the farm or in the office. All volunteers must attend training from 12:30-3:30<\/span><\/span> on September 8<\/span><\/span>, October 6th<\/span><\/sup>. HISTORIC BETHLEHEM MUSEUMS & SITES <\/b>is looking for groups of adults to assist with set up on Friday, September 7<\/span><\/span> at the Burnside Plantation for their Annual Apple Days Festival. Bring gloves, weed whackers, and leaf blowers. Two shifts available 9am-noon<\/span><\/span> and 1-4pm.<\/span><\/span> Lunch served from noon to 1pm <\/span><\/span>for all volunteers. LEHIGH VALLEY HEALTH NETWORK MARATHON FOR VIA, Lehigh Valley <\/b>is seeking volunteers (age 12+) on Sunday, September 9 to be course marshals along the race route through the cities of Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton. WILDLANDS CONSERVANCY, Emmaus <\/b>needs volunteers to help with clearing unwanted vegetation at their Thomas Darling Preserve, Blakeslee, on September 8th<\/span><\/span> to make way for other native species to take root. Volunteers should be prepared for strenuous physical activity, wear thick long pants and have sturdy work boots, and bring sunscreen, bug and tick repellent.
