{"id":82368,"date":"2018-09-21T00:04:45","date_gmt":"2018-09-21T04:04:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=82368"},"modified":"2018-09-21T00:04:45","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T04:04:45","slug":"volunteer-activities-set-for-saturday-9-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=82368","title":{"rendered":"Volunteer Activities Set for Saturday (9\/22)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Friends of the Allentown Parks in cooperation with the City of Allentown Department of Parks &amp; Recreation will celebrate the 25th Annual National Public Lands Day with a volunteer beautification event in downtown Allentown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date<\/strong>: September 22, 2018<br \/>\n<strong>Time<\/strong>: 9:00 a.m. \u2013 12:00 p.m.<br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: 5th Street Playground (located on 5th St between Gordon and Liberty Streets).<br \/>\n<strong>Description<\/strong>: general park cleanup and planting fall flowers throughout the park<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers include students of the Ecology Club at Allentown Central Catholic High School and Cedar Crest College. Additional volunteers are welcome! Each year, National Public Lands Day volunteers provide tens of millions of dollars\u2019 worth of services in one day that would otherwise take limited park staff months to accomplish.
