Fall and winter recreation enthusiasts are learning about the multitude of leisure activities available throughout the City of Allentown in the newest edition of Adventure Allentown<\/em>.\u00a0 Mayor Ray O\u2019Connell announced today that the 2018-19 Fall\/Winter edition of Adventure Allentown<\/em> is being distributed city-wide beginning the week of October 1.<\/p>\n

The city\u2019s 36 page guide to fall and winter leisure activities will be sent home with Allentown School District students, and will be available at various organizations and businesses in the city and placed in free outdoor publication racks throughout the park system. City subscribers to The Morning Call newspaper will receive a copy in their newspaper delivery on Thursday, October 4.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Adventure Allentown<\/em> guide is a wonderful resource for city residents and visitors,\u201d said Mayor O\u2019Connell.\u00a0 \u201cI encourage all families to come out and enjoy the wide variety of recreational opportunities in our beautiful park system and throughout our great city this fall and winter season.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Adventure Allentown<\/em> guide contains information on special events, youth and adult programs; city parks and golf; music and theater; the library and museums; recycling programs, healthy living and other useful material for city services.\u00a0 The guide also includes a list of park amenities, recent and upcoming park improvements, event schedules and a comprehensive list of community agencies dedicated to youth, adults and senior citizens.<\/p>\n

An eight-page condensed version of Adventure Allentown<\/em> is expected to be available electronically in Spanish on the city\u2019s website by October 5.<\/p>\n

Adventure Allentown<\/em> captured APEX awards in 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.\u00a0 The 2009 award was for a PR, Public Information & Public Service Campaign.\u00a0 The 2013 award was for Publication Excellence in the Magazines & Journals Print category and the 2014, 2015 and 2016 awards were for Publication Excellence in the Magazine, Journal & Tabloid Design Layout category. The Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society honored Adventure Allentown with the 2009 Agency Publication and Promotion Award.<\/p>\n

Another spring and summer guide is planned for release in April 2019 and will include the distribution of 65,000 copies.<\/p>\n
