Now in its 45th season, this televised academic quiz show is the longest running show on PBS39!<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nBerk, a professor and author, will act as moderator while two teams of four high school students each battle head to head on subjects such as humanities, science, the arts and mathematics.&#8221;Scholastic Scrimmage is proud to be the longest running program on PBS39,&#8221; Manager of Education at PBS39 Cate Reifsnyder said. &#8220;Season 45 will include a live studio audience! We encourage our devoted viewers to tune in.\u201dBerk has a master\u2019s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor\u2019s degree in political science from Drew University. He has been working in libraries for more than two decades and has also worked as a professor of english and education. He is an award-winning author of books for children and young adults and has previously been a journalist, poet, playwright and guitarist.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u201cI&#8217;ve been watching Scholastic Scrimmage for about 30 years and am honored to be the new host,\u201d Berk said. I love that it celebrates academic achievement in the Lehigh Valley and am so excited to get behind the podium and share in the fun with all these amazingly bright young people. Game on!\u201d<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nScholastic Scrimmage will feature more than 130 students from 30 area high schools. At the end of the season, the top two teams win cash prizes for their schools, provided by Air Products. The first place school receives $4,000 and the second place school receives $2,000 for their scholarship fund. Scholastic Scrimmage airs this November on PBS39.
