{"id":83696,"date":"2018-10-20T14:28:48","date_gmt":"2018-10-20T18:28:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=83696"},"modified":"2018-10-20T14:28:48","modified_gmt":"2018-10-20T18:28:48","slug":"allentown-school-district-foundation-receives-116000-grant-from-the-baseball-tomorrow-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=83696","title":{"rendered":"ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION RECEIVES $116,000 GRANT  FROM THE BASEBALL TOMORROW FUND"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">GRANT FUNDS AWARDED FOR THE RENOVATIONS<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">AT WILLIAM ALLEN HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FIELDS<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allentown, Pa. \u2013 October 17, 2018 \u2013 The Allentown School District Foundation announced today that it was recently awarded a $116,000 grant from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF), the grant program supported by Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association designed to promote youth baseball and softball participation.\u00a0 The grant will provide funding for renovations at the William Allen High School baseball and softball fields.<\/p>\n<p>Allentown School District offers baseball and softball programs and works with local summer programs including American Legion, Connie Mack and the Lehigh Valley RBI program.\u00a0 The BTF grant will provide funding for renovation of the baseball field playing surface, dugouts and backstop and for the renovation of the softball field dugouts.\u00a0 Construction is scheduled to begin this month for completion by November 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStarting with the 2019 season, the William Allen Canary Baseball Team will be sporting an entirely new image on the playing field, thanks to the financial support of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund,\u201d says Rob Leskosky, William Allen High School baseball coach. \u201cOur student players are especially excited to be connected to BTF. The new infield, playing surface, dugouts, batting cages, backstop, scoreboard, fencing and well\u2026 just about everything will be new! We are grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThe Baseball Tomorrow Fund is honored to support the growing youth baseball and softball in Allentown,\u201d said Cathy Bradley, Executive Director of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. \u201cOn behalf of Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association, we thank the Allentown School District and its partners for providing quality programs and facilities to young players.\u00a0 It\u2019s much-needed projects like this that ensure a fun, safe experience for kids to learn and play the game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Allentown School District Foundation accepts in-kind and monetary contributions for school programs and facilities.
