Taking the stage at the ArtsQuest Center\u2019s Fowler Blast Furnace Room Feb. 23, 8 p.m., is Carolyn Dorfman Dance: Snap Crackle Pop & More!<\/strong> The stunning dancers of Dorfman\u2019s bold and high-energy company perform technically demanding and evocative dance. The powerful storytelling takes audiences on intellectual and emotional journeys that illuminate and celebrate the human experience.<\/p>\n This thrilling performance will feature the sonically eclectic \u201cWAVES\u201d and Dorfman\u2019s latest groundbreaking work \u201cSnap Crackle Pop,\u201d co-choreographed with Ren\u00e9e Jaworski, the co-artistic director of internationally renowned PILOBOLUS. Led by Artistic Director Carolyn Dorfman, Carolyn Dorfman Dance connects life and dance in bold, athletic and dramatic works by nationally renowned choreographers. The company\u2019s 11 multi-ethnic dancers tap their unique talents to present high-energy and technically demanding dance that unleashes powerful imagery. Tickets for the show are $22.50 for ArtsQuest Members and $25 for the public.<\/p>\n On April 4, 7:30 p.m., DANCE NOW SteelStacks welcomes Megan Williams Dance Project\u2019s ONE WOMAN SHOW<\/strong> to the Fowler Blast Furnace Room. This performance of post-postmodern dance theater follies for the small stage includes a pre-show presentation featuring Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts students. In ONE WOMAN SHOW, choreographer Megan Williams channels the tragic and comedic heroines of golden-age Hollywood, using them as a lens to view the experience of the 21st-century woman. A contemporary nostalgia trip that grabs at the current moment through a series of action-packed vignettes, the work questions how society learns about sex, misogyny, romance, beauty and aging.<\/p>\n Williams\u2019s choreography has been produced by the 92nd Street Y, 10 Hairy Legs, DANCE NOW at Joe\u2019s Pub and Dance Theater Workshop, the Rivertown Artists Workshop, Barnspace, MIXT Co., Purchase College, Marymount Manhattan College, Connecticut College and Interlochen Arts Academy. Tickets for ONE WOMAN SHOW are $20.<\/p>\n For its bi-annual showcase, Dance EXposure<\/strong> presented by ArtsQuest and the Lehigh Valley Dance Exchange will serve up an abundance of exciting, engaging and captivating dance works by the region\u2019s most talented choreographers and dance companies April 13, 8 p.m., in the Fowler Blast Furnace Room. Dance EXposure provides a setting for established and emerging dance artists to present their work in a supportive, creative environment and, in so doing, gain \u201cexposure\u201d for their choreography and broaden their community reach. Selected artists, chosen via an application process, receive performance space, technical assistance and publicity to expand their audience and network with other artists, potential funders and dance enthusiasts.
