Land, who selected the name to honor Jacques DeMolay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar in France.<\/p>\n<p>Allentown Chapter\u00a0was formed in 1926 by local Masons, who also built the local Masonic Temple located on\u00a0Linden Street\u00a0across from Allentown\u2019s West Park.<\/p>\n<p>Allentown DeMolay is sponsored by Allen-Beauceant Commandery No. 20 of the Knights Templar.<\/p>\n<p>Both groups meet in the Commandery Asylum located on the first floor of the Temple.<\/p>\n<p>Allentown\u00a0Chapter includes boys from the City of\u00a0Allentown and many neighboring\u00a0municipalities and school districts throughout the Lehigh Valley, including Allentown, Bethlehem, East Penn, Parkland, Salisbury, Whitehall-Coplay,\u00a0Northampton, Nazareth, Bangor, and Easton.<\/p>\n<p>The current Master Councilor of the Chapter is Daniel Hollenbaugh, a senior at Emmaus High School.<\/p>\n<p>To encourage all Pennsylvania\u00a0DeMolay\u00a0Chapters to organize, execute, and document successful\u00a0DeMolay\u00a0Month\u00a0<wbr \/>observances during the month of March, Pennsylvania\u00a0DeMolay\u00a0again has sponsored the \u201cDeMolay\u00a0Month\u00a0Award of Excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a part of this contest, each Chapter can earn points by completing certain tasks, and the winner will be\u00a0recognized with the Pennsylvania DeMolay\u00a0\u201cDeMolay\u00a0Month 100th Anniversary Award of Excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to one Chapter winning the Award of Excellence, the top three Chapters in Pennsylvania also will be recognized\u00a0with certificates and\u00a0cash prizes\u00a0at the state\u00a0organization\u2019s\u00a0annual convention,\u00a0which is being held this year\u00a0in Cranberry Townahip near Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Allentown Chapter is seeking to win the Award of Excellence and the top\u00a0cash prize to help offset the cost of chapter activities, according to Edward John White, the Chairman of Allentown Chapter\u2019s 14-member Advisory Council and a Senior DeMolay who has been involved with the local chapter since 1975.<\/p>\n<p>DeMolay is an international nonprofit organization recognized by the IRS as a public charity under IRS Section 501(c)(3).<\/p>\n<p>One of the ways each Chapter is encouraged to participate in DeMolay Month and for which it can obtain points toward the contest awards, White said, is to obtain proclamations or resolutions recognizing DeMolay and DeMolay\u00a0Month\u00a0from local, state, and national elected officials.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s presentation by Allentown City Council was attended Officers, members, advisors, and parents of Chapter members.<\/p>\n<p>Information Provided By:<br \/>\nEdward John White<br \/>\nChairman, Allentown DeMolay Advisory Council<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Featured Image:\u00a0Members of Allentown City Council present Proclamation to members of Allentown DeMolay to commemorate The centennial of DeMolay and March as DeMolay Month in Allentown.
