{"id":86532,"date":"2019-03-11T23:22:19","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T03:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=86532"},"modified":"2019-03-11T23:22:19","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T03:22:19","slug":"the-tony-hawk-foundation-awards-grant-for-skate-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=86532","title":{"rendered":"THE TONY HAWK FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT FOR SKATE PARK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Tony Hawk Foundation is awarding the city of Allentown a $10,000 grant for a skate park at Jordan Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank Tony Hawk and The Tony Hawk Foundation for approving our grant application,\u201d said Mayor Ray O\u2019Connell.\u00a0 \u201cThis skate park will be a big addition to the current small skateboard obstacles in Keck Park.\u00a0 It will also add to the exercise stations installed in Jordan Park a couple of years ago that open-up park equipment to people of all ages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The skatepark will be located at the site of the former clay tennis courts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe planning and design of the skate park incorporated input, vision and feedback from users who attended three community meetings,\u201d Allentown Department of Parks &amp; Recreation Director Karen El-Chaar said.\u00a0 \u201cI know they are going to be very pleased with the finished product.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is the second grant the city has received for the project.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2018 the city was awarded a $300,000 matching grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation &amp;
