Keynote speaker and literary scholar will share his experience raising his son<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

WHAT: <\/b>The Rehabilitation and Human Services (RHS) and Biobehavioral Health (BBH) Programs at Penn State Lehigh Valley are hosting \u201cNeurodevelopmental Disorders in Adults \u2013 A Multi-Perspective View.\u201d The day is open to community members. Seating is limited and advanced registration is required. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Topics explored during the day will include the science, the stigma, the parent perspective, and the services available for individuals with these disabilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In partnership with the Faculty Invitational Lecture Series Committee, RHS\/BBH Program Day will feature Michael B\u00e9rub\u00e9, the Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of Literature and Chair of the University Faculty Senate at Penn State University, as the keynote speaker. He will speak at 12:15 p.m. on\u00a0Tuesday, March 26 at the Lehigh Valley campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

B\u00e9rub\u00e9 is the author of ten books to date, including\u00a0\u201cPublic Access: Literary Theory and American Cultural Politics\u201d\u00a0(Verso, 1994);\u00a0\u201cLife As We Know It: A Father, A Family, and an Exceptional Child\u201d\u00a0(Pantheon, 1996; paper, Vintage, 1998); and\u00a0\u201cWhat\u2019s Liberal About the Liberal Arts? Classroom Politics and \u2018Bias\u2019 in Higher Education\u201d\u00a0<\/i>(W. W. Norton, 2006). His son Jamie was born with Down syndrome in 1991, in \u201cLife As We Know It: A Father, A Family, and an Exceptional Child\u201d, B\u00e9rub\u00e9 describes the experience of raising Jamie. <\/span><\/p>\n
