(Allentown, PA)- The Trexler Nature Preserve and Wildlands Conservancy held their Pre-K Pathfinders program today, educating local children about birding and local birdlife at the Trexler Education Center.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The program attracted parents and children from across the county, ranging from Bethlehem to Slatington.\u00a0 The event, geared towards younger children, offered families an opportunity to learn about various birdcalls and helped children identify birds present throughout the county. Kids heard calls from robins and blue jays, in addition to being given their own ID books for local birds. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The program also introduced them to birding, or the watching and identification of birds.\u00a0 The attendants were taken on a brief walk, each with their own pair of binoculars to help them spot birds across the preserve.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar really took flight when children were able to interact with a live pigeon and were given the opportunity to design their own bird-kites. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Trexler Nature Preserve offers 1,108 acres of scenic, outdoor experiences in Lowhill and North Whitehall Townships.\u00a0 The trail networks and observation points offer unique opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, walking and picturesque views complete with local wildlife. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
