{"id":8764,"date":"2015-09-24T18:07:20","date_gmt":"2015-09-24T22:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=8764"},"modified":"2015-09-24T18:08:41","modified_gmt":"2015-09-24T22:08:41","slug":"httpwww-thevalleyledger-comp1904-64","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=8764","title":{"rendered":"NOCHES DE RITMO EVENT ON SEPTEMBER 26"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The City of Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation\u2019s Noches de Ritmo 2015 series will conclude with an event this Saturday, September 26 from 4:00pm \u2013 7:00pm in the Arts Park.\u00a0 The event provides free, family-friendly entertainment featuring art, music and dance.<\/p>\n<p>The event will include live performances by a variety of popular local groups whose rhythms range from merengue to salsa to bolero.\u00a0 Performing groups include Puertorrican Culture Preservation Organization\u2019s La Plana group, HALA (Hispanic American League of Artists), XCAPE hip hop dance group, Allentown Arts Academy Dance Ensemble, Alex Cuevas, and Latin pop-star Giselle Gastell. Guillo \u201cEl Lokillo\u201d from La Ola Radio and Flor Velez from Puertorrican Culture Preservation Organization will emcee the event.<\/p>\n<p>The Noches de Ritmo program series began in 2013, attracting more than 1,600 attendees in its first year. The program has continued to expand and attract new participants as the series concludes its third season.\u00a0 The title of the program, which translates to \u201cRhythm Nights,\u201d is accompanied by the tagline which defines the essential components of these events: \u201cMusic, Dance, Art &amp; Community.\u201d All Noches de Ritmo events are held in both English and Spanish, and include different elements of local culture through music, singing, dancing and artwork.
