Formed in Vancouver in 2001, progressive pop band Marianas Trench<\/strong> is known for hits like \u201cHaven\u2019t Had Enough,\u201d \u201cAll to Myself,\u201d \u201cOne to Love\u201d and \u201cFallout.\u201d On its Suspending Gravity Tour, the band is focusing on venues like the Musikfest Caf\u00e9 that give fans an up-close-and personal live experience. The shows will feature the quartet\u2019s signature high-energy performance, while showcasing material from the group\u2019s new studio album, \u201cPhantoms,\u201d as well as the hits from previous recordings. Marianas Trench\u2019s show at the Musikfest Caf\u00e9 presented by Yuengling is set for Sept. 8 at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n On Aug. 24, 8 p.m., the Musikfest Caf\u00e9 presented by Yuengling welcomes Gary Hoey<\/strong>. With a collection of 21 albums, it\u2019s no wonder Hoey is listed as one of the top 100 guitarists of all time. The world renowned rock guitarist\u2019s first break came in 1987 when Ozzy Osbourne liked Hoey\u2019s tape enough to fly him to Los Angeles for an audition and encouraged him to move to the West Coast.<\/p>\n In 1990 Hoey was signed to Reprise Records with a band called Heavy Bones. He followed that up in 1993 with the solo album Animal Instinct, <\/em>which included a cover of Focus\u2019 \u201cHocus Pocus,\u201d which rocketed into Billboard\u2019s Top 5 Rock Tracks. Hoey went on to score the successful Endless Summer II<\/em> soundtrack for New Line Cinema and in 1995 started a trilogy of \u201cHo!Ho!Hoey,\u201d a collection of instrumental Christmas classics that continues each year in his rockin\u2019 holiday shows.<\/p>\n One of the few solo female artists who performed at the Woodstock Music & Arts Festival in 1969, Melanie <\/strong>achieved international fame with her hit “Lay Down (Candles in the Rain),\u201d which sold more than one million copies in 1970 and prompted Billboard, Melody Maker, Record World and Bravo to anoint her as female vocalist of the year. Her single “Brand New Key,” an infectious romp about freedom and roller skates, then topped the charts in 1971.
