(<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1839237240\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Oct. 8, 2015<\/span><\/span>) <\/strong>\u2013 Progressive Waste Solutions\u2019 Bethlehem Landfill (formerly IESI) and 4 Bandits BBQ announced today that the companies had the unexpected opportunity to donate $6,000 worth of prepared food to local soup kitchens this past weekend due to Hurricane Joaquin.<\/p>\n<p>The Bethlehem Landfill had scheduled an open house at their facility on Applebutter Road for Saturday, Oct. 3.Due to a forecast of high winds, the event was cancelled, and the company and their caterer were left with a tremendous amount of food.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI suggested to Brian Baker, owner of 4 Bandits, that we contact soup kitchens to see if they could take the food,\u201d said Marcy Neumire, manager of community relations for the Bethlehem Landfill. \u201cHe and his wife, Stephanie, loved the idea and made it happen. We were all glad to see it go to good use.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Pastor and Salvation Army Corps Officer Fran Rader had this to say about the donation, \u201cWe were sorry to hear that the open house didn\u2019t work out for the Bethlehem Landfill, but we are so grateful for the blessing to the hungry people in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The soup kitchens at Christ Church UCC of Bethlehem and Bath Church-United Church of Christ received their savory gifts <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1839237241\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Saturday<\/span><\/span>, which included enough food to distribute that day and more to freeze for the future. The Pembroke Road Salvation Army\u2019s gift was delivered <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1839237242\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Sunday<\/span><\/span>.
