HARRISBURG<\/strong> \u2013 State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh\/Berks) today issued the following statement after House passage of the $33.997 billion state budget:<\/p>\n \u201cToday, I voted to protect taxpayers with an on-time budget that does not include any tax increases. It strengthens education by dedicating more funding to preK-12, as well as career and technical education. Investing in education and workforce development prepares students for family-sustaining, in-demand careers.<\/p>\n \u201cRevenue collections were significantly elevated compared to last year because of the strong national economy and wise budgeting decisions we made here in Pennsylvania in recent years. As a result, we were able to make significant investments and save for the future by placing $250 million in the state\u2019s Rainy Day Fund for the first time.<\/p>\n \u201cThis legislation represents a strong, fiscally responsible budget with no new taxes, investments in our key priorities, and saving for our future.\u201d<\/p>\n Following passage in the House, House Bill 790 now goes to the state Senate for approval.
