The regional nominations were announced at a celebration hosted and streamed by PBS39 in Bethlehem, PA.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bethlehem, PA. – August 13, 2019 – <\/strong>On Monday, August 12, 2019, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy\u00ae Award nominees were announced at the PPL Public Media Center at PBS39 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. PBS39 was nominated in the categories of investigative report, feature news report, politics\/government special, news single story, interview\/discussion series and community affairs special.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am extremely proud of our team at PBS39.\u201d Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of PBS39 said. \u201cWhile we do not do this work for the recognition, it is an honor to be recognized by our peers. This is only the beginning, I am excited to see what the future brings as our team continues to grow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In the category of investigative report – single story or series, PBS39 was nominated for <\/span>Stop the Violence<\/a><\/strong>, a special report examining youth and gang violence in the Lehigh Valley. Nominees include PBS39\u2019s Megan Frank, Daniel Ray, Jim Deegan and Yoni Greenbaum. In the category of feature news report – serious feature, Chloe Nouvelle, along with Jim Deegan earned a nomination for the report titled <\/span>Rooster<\/a><\/strong>, profiling Allentown School District\u2019s Homelessness Liaison Russell \u201cRooster\u201d Valentini. In the category of societal concerns – news single story, PBS39 earned a nomination for the report <\/span>Election Night: Joe\u2019s Barber Shop<\/strong>. Daniel Ray, Jacob Boyer, Javier Diaz, Jim Deegan and Yoni Greenbaum are among the nominated team members.<\/span><\/p>\n

PBS39\u2019s live coverage of the <\/span>116th Congress<\/a><\/strong> swearing-in garnered a nomination in the category of politics\/government – program\/special. The PBS39 team who worked on this newscast includes Yoni Greenbaum, Andrea Cummis, Javier Diaz, Anastasia Weckerly, Jessica Lee, Monica Evans-Trout, Brittany Sweeney, Megan Frank, Chloe Nouvelle and Harri Leigh.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new PBS39 original program <\/span>Counter Culture<\/a><\/strong>, hosted by Grover Silcox, was nominated in the category of interview\/discussion series. This weekly talk show, set at the counter of Daddypops Diner in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, welcomes artists, authors, comics, singers, historians and others to talk about their passions. Team members nominated along with Silcox, include Jeffrey Frederick, Zach Wisneskie, Anastasia Weckerly, Jessica Lee, Daniel Ray, Andrea Cummis, Javier Diaz and Yoni Greenbaum.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe works recognized with a nomination reflect our shared commitment to solutions and accountability journalism and to high-quality, original local programming.\u201d Yoni Greenbaum, Chief Content Officer at PBS39 said. \u201cI am proud of all of those who have worked to turn our goals into reality.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Also nominated in the category of community affairs special was the final installment of PBS39\u2019s five-part <\/span>Close to Home<\/a><\/strong> series. <\/span>Close to Home: Human Trafficking<\/strong> was made in conjunction with PBS39\u2019s production partner eMediaWorks.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2019 Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy\u00ae Awards will be presented on September 28, 2019 in Pittsburgh. At this ceremony, PBS39\u2019s Grover Silcox will be inducted into the prestigious <\/span>Silver Circle Society<\/a>. This honor society is for members who have spent 25 years or more in the television industry.<\/span><\/p>\n
