Bethlehem, PA. – August 28, 2019<\/strong> – PBS39 is inviting the public to a screening and panel discussion of the soon-to-be-released documentary series <\/span>Country Music<\/em> by renowned documentarian, Ken Burns. This free event, presented by PBS39 and partners Penn\u2019s Peak, CAT Country 96 and ArtsQuest, will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10, at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas in the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cKen Burns is a singular storyteller, and we are excited to see what his team brings to this new series,\u201d Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of PBS39 said. \u201cCountry music has played such a significant role in our nation\u2019s history. This event gives us the opportunity to share that story on the big screen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be a reception with light refreshments for all participants from 6-7 p.m. in the Connect Zone of the ArtsQuest Center. The screening, featuring scenes and interviews from across the eight-episode series, will begin at 7:15 in the Cinema. A panel discussion moderated by Jerry Padden from CAT Country 96, will follow. Dick Boak, retired Artist Relations Manager from C.F. Martin & Co. and contributor to this documentary, will be a featured panelist.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will also be a free, educational event for students in Foy Hall at Lafayette College on Thursday, September 19.<\/span><\/p>\n

Country Music<\/em> is a 16-hour documentary series featuring never-before-seen footage, photographs and interviews with more than 80 country music artists. The series is directed and produced by Ken Burns, written and produced by Dayton Duncan and produced by Julie Dunfey. The series will explore questions such as \u201cWhat is country music?\u201d and \u201cWhere did it come from?\u201d while focusing on the biographies of the fascinating characters who created and shaped the genre. Artists such as the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Charley Pride, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Garth Brooks and many more will be featured in the series. <\/span>Country Music<\/em> will premiere on PBS39 at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 20. The full series will also be available to stream on <\/span>PBS39 Passport<\/a> beginning September 15. <\/span><\/p>\n
