{"id":95651,"date":"2019-09-24T22:26:21","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T02:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=95651"},"modified":"2019-09-24T22:26:21","modified_gmt":"2019-09-25T02:26:21","slug":"free-naloxone-on-september-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=95651","title":{"rendered":"FREE NALOXONE ON SEPTEMBER 25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Allentown Health Bureau will offer naloxone (Narcan) for a limited time on Wednesday, September 25 as part of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf\u2019s Stop Overdoses in PA initiative.<\/p>\n<p>This medication reverses the effects of an opioid overdose and gives the patient a chance at recovery. Nurses and medical personnel will dispense naloxone and provide information on how to administer it and get help.<\/p>\n<p>No questions will be asked, and no paperwork is required.<\/p>\n<p>The Allentown Health Bureau is located at 245 N. 6th Street. The number of doses is limited, so quantities will be distributed from 9:00 a.m. until the supply is gone.\u00a0 More than 100 doses were distributed at the bureau on September 18.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe life-saving medication naloxone is essential for every resident to have on hand, particularly if you have a loved one suffering from opioid-use disorder,\u201d Governor Tom Wolf said. \u201cWe want to ensure that all Pennsylvanians have the proper tools to help fight this opioid crisis and through this opportunity for free naloxone, we are saving lives and getting those who need it most into treatment.
