{"id":95790,"date":"2019-10-03T22:51:48","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T02:51:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=95790"},"modified":"2019-10-03T22:55:44","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T02:55:44","slug":"kidspeace-launches-innovative-dual-diagnosis-addiction-treatment-program-at-monroe-county-location","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=95790","title":{"rendered":"KidsPeace Launches Innovative \u201cDual-Diagnosis\u201d Addiction Treatment Program at Monroe County Location"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Featured Image: <b><\/b>Community leaders joined KidsPeace treatment professionals Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the organization\u2019s office in Mount Pocono, PA (Monroe County) for the official launch of the \u201cdual-diagnosis\u201d addiction treatment program.\u00a0 PA State Representative Maureen Madden cut the ceremonial ribbon as KidsPeace President\/CEO Michael Slack and PA State Senator Mario Scavello looked on.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>KidsPeace announced that it has expanded an innovative drug and alcohol addiction treatment program to its outpatient offices in Mount Pocono, Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County (PA).<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cdual-diagnosis\u201d treatment program is designed specifically to meet the needs of individuals with both a mental health condition and substance abuse issues.\u00a0 A similar program was launched earlier this year at KidsPeace\u2019s location in Allentown, Lehigh County.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 45 percent of people with addiction have a co-occurring mental health disorder.\u00a0 KidsPeace\u2019s new program offers intensive outpatient, individual, family and group therapy to treat dual diagnoses, recognizing that it is often necessary to address underlying mental health issues to ensure long-term success for addiction treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Program therapists at the Mt. Pocono locations are trained in the <em>Matrix Model<\/em>, an evidence-based outpatient treatment approach which employs aspects of multiple therapeutic styles in combinations that best address each individual\u2019s specific situation.
