Cabot donated $15,000 to the scholarship fund through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program for the 2019-2020 school year. The program is administered by Commonwealth Charitable Management.<\/p>\n
On Thursday (Oct. 3), George Stark and Bill desRosiers, of Cabot, visited LCTI to present the money to Grace Loeffler, the school’s director of academic and special projects. State Rep. Peter Schweyer, whose Allentown district includes two of LCTI’s partner high schools, was on hand for the afternoon check presentation.<\/p>\n
“These scholarships will help ensure that all students, but especially those from low- income households, have the uniforms and materials they need to succeed in LCTI’s career and technical education programs,” Loeffler said. “Cabot’s gift is an investment in our students’ futures and the Lehigh Valley’s continued economic strength.”<\/p>\n
Scholarship applicants must be LCTI students whose families have an adjusted gross income of up to $90,000, plus $15,000 for each dependent listed on their federal tax return. Preference will be given to applicants from low- to moderate-income families.<\/p>\n
The scholarships may be used to purchase program uniforms, books, tools, safety gear and any other materials required for successful participation in the career and technical education programs at LCTI.<\/p>\n
