Bethlehem, PA. – October 16, 2019<\/strong> – Andrea Cummis, Chief Technology Officer of Lehigh Valley Public Media, home of PBS39, has been elected to serve as Vice President of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE). The SBE is a non-profit professional organization that serves broadcast engineers around the world. Cummis will be the first female in the association\u2019s 55-year history to hold this position.<\/p>\n \u201cAndrea Cummis is a tremendous asset to our organization,\u201d Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of Lehigh Valley Public Media said. \u201cWe value her decades of professional experience and industry instincts. In this position, she will have the opportunity to share her talents with broadcast engineers around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n Cummis has more than two decades of experience in technical and operational areas of television, radio and new media. Cummis is a certified broadcast technician and technical operator. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. Cummis also graduated first in her class while earning her EJD, professional law degree from Concord Law School at Purdue University Global. Throughout her career she has worked for a variety of companies including USA Networks, Oxygen Media, IMG New Media, MSG Media and WNET New York Public Media.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is an honor to serve as a leader in the only organization devoted to the advancement of broadcast engineering,\u201d Cummis said. \u201cI hope to use my position and influence to enhance resources for existing professionals, while attracting a new generation of talent to our industry.\u201d<\/p>\n The SBE has more than five thousand members in more than 30 countries.
