{"id":96472,"date":"2019-11-05T09:05:03","date_gmt":"2019-11-05T14:05:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=96472"},"modified":"2019-11-05T09:05:03","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T14:05:03","slug":"lehigh-valley-public-media-announces-live-election-night-coverage-on-multiple-platforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=96472","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh Valley Public Media\u2122 Announces Live Election Night Coverage on Multiple Platforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Live coverage will begin at 9 p.m. on PBS39, PBS39.org, WLVR and Billboards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bethlehem, PA. &#8211; November 4, 2019<\/strong> &#8211; Lehigh Valley Public Media announces plans for live election night coverage on Tuesday, November 5. <strong>Decision 2019: A Special Presentation of PBS39 News Tonight<\/strong> will feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvt.org\/reportercorps\/pbs39-news-tonight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PBS39 Reporter Corps\u00ae<\/a> journalists reporting from the PBS39 studios and from 7 locations throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Morning Call<\/a> newsroom. Also in the studio, experts from local colleges will bring additional insights to the program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPromoting civic engagement is a vital part of our mission at Lehigh Valley Public Media,\u201d Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer said. \u201cIt is our responsibility in a democracy to inform and inspire the community. The addition of our Reporter Corps journalists and our new radio station allows us to bring unbiased coverage to all citizens of the Greater Lehigh Valley through a variety of platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lehigh Valley Public Media\u2019s coverage will extend beyond the television screen in several ways, as the newly-launched NPR station, <a href=\"http:\/\/wlvr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WLVR<\/a>, will offer coverage on the radio. Also, thanks to a partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adamsoutdoor.com\/#1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adams Outdoor Advertising<\/a>, live news updates and results will be visible on more than 20 digital billboards throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley. When there\u2019s a development in an important race, the team will immediately post an update to the billboards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe realize not everyone is sitting in front of a television or computer screen on election night. This is an opportunity to provide the public with a variety of options, using as many different platforms as we can,\u201d Yoni Greenbaum, Chief Content Officer of Lehigh Valley Public Media said. \u201cThese elections are about so much more than results and numbers. Through storytelling and new technology, we want to help revive community journalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reports will go beyond results. Journalists will focus on important topics including new voting machines, staffing at the polls, Marsy\u2019s Law, and a historical look at enticing voters to the polls. Commentators will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Adam McGlynn<\/strong>, associate professor of political science at East Stroudsburg University.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vera Fennell<\/strong>, associate professor of political science at Lehigh University.<\/li>\n<li><strong>David Myers<\/strong>, former director of the O&#8217;Pake Institute and current government relations and external affairs advisor at Alvernia University.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Michelle Deegan<\/strong>, professor of political science at Muhlenberg College.<\/li>\n<li><strong>John Kincaid<\/strong>, professor of government and political science and director of the Meyner Center for the Study of State and Local Government at Lafayette College.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Check your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvt.org\/pbs39-tv-schedules\/#page=schedule&amp;day=20191105&amp;provider=Broadcast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">local listings<\/a> and watch live on Tuesday, November 5 on PBS39\/WLVT.
