The live program includes a panel of experts, local officials and doctors who will speak on the impact of vaping. Members of the community who have experienced its effects will also share their stories. The program will be recorded in front of a studio audience who will have the opportunity to ask questions. In addition to being broadcast live on PBS39, the program will air on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">91.3 WLVR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA big part of our organization\u2019s mission is to cultivate an informed community,\u201d Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of Lehigh Valley Public Media said. \u201cOur Community Conversation series gives our viewers in-depth information and discourse on the issues that impact their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recently, vaping-related illnesses and deaths have become a cause for concern. Medical professionals across the country and the CDC have warned against the use of all vaping devices, as the specific cause of the illness has not yet been identified. To discuss this health crisis will be an expert panel including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dr. Joseph Schellenberg<\/strong>: Pulmonologist at Lehigh Valley Health Network<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ankit Shah, MD, FACEP, FAAEM<\/strong>: Associate Director of the Reading Hospital Emergency Department<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anthony W. Luker<\/strong>: Specialist in the Office of Public Engagement for the PA Office of Attorney General<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lisa S. Wolff, M.Ed.<\/strong>: Senior Manager of Community Outreach at the Center for Humanistic Change<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alicia Kline<\/strong>: Certified Prevention Specialist for the Council on Chemical Abuse<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anita D. Miller<\/strong>: Project Coordinator for Drug Free Communities\/Northeast Community Springboard Coalition, Community Prevention Partnership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The conversation will explore the situation in area schools as well, with <strong>Jared Perella<\/strong>, a teacher in Reading School District; \u201cClean Teens\u201d of Wilson High School in Berks County, including president <strong>Rachel Radosh<\/strong>, <strong>Emily Glenn<\/strong>, and <strong>Alexandra Schnoor<\/strong>; and <strong>Xander Amidon<\/strong>, a teen who was treated for vaping related injuries with his mother, <strong>Kari Ide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a crisis that primarily affects younger members of our community,\u201d said Brittany Sweeney, Health Reporter for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvt.org\/reportercorps\/pbs39-news-tonight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PBS39 News Tonight<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s important that families are educated about the risks involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sweeney has covered vaping stories in Berks County previously, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvt.org\/blogs\/berks\/speaking-out-about-teen-vaping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">how school districts approach the crisis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvt.org\/blogs\/berks\/vaping-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">how middle schoolers view the trend<\/a>, and the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvt.org\/blogs\/berks\/vaping-related-death-suspected-in-berks-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vaping death in Berks County<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This free event is open to the public.
