{"id":97422,"date":"2020-01-10T09:59:52","date_gmt":"2020-01-10T14:59:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=97422"},"modified":"2020-01-10T09:59:52","modified_gmt":"2020-01-10T14:59:52","slug":"lehigh-valley-public-medias-pbs39-launches-new-pbs-kids-box-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=97422","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh Valley Public Media\u2019s PBS39 Launches New PBS KIDS Box Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PBS39 kicked off the PBS KIDS Box program in December, providing ten pre-k educators at the Greater Valley YMCA educational resources that will reach 160 students throughout the Lehigh Valley.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><code class=\"code\">-AMAZONPOLLY-ONLYWORDS-START-<\/code><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0-58raHHsrI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<code class=\"code\">-AMAZONPOLLY-ONLYWORDS-END-<\/code><br \/>\n<strong>Bethlehem, PA. &#8211; January 10, 2020<\/strong> &#8211; Lehigh Valley Public Media\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlvt.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>PBS39<\/u><\/a> has launched a new PBS KIDS outreach program, which will benefit ten educators and 160 pre-k students through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gv-ymca.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greater Valley YMCA<\/a>. The program, centered around helping young children through hands-on learning, introduces concepts that give children opportunities to practice new skills in different ways.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to be able to continue supporting local educators by giving them exceptional resources like these,\u201dTim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer of Lehigh Valley Public Media said. \u201cIt\u2019s through PBS KIDS that we have opportunities to see our local educators and their students excel, and for that we are incredibly grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Every month for four months, each teacher will receive a \u201cPBS KIDS Box,\u201d which includes a tablet and a variety of hands-on materials for early childhood educators. Through grant funding, PBS39 provides curriculum-based lesson plans from PBS LearningMedia, as well as video clips, instructions and resources for the classroom and take-home activities, which help students practice at home with parents and caregivers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are thrilled to partner with PBS39 in this effort,\u201d said Crystal Messer, Vice President of Child Care, Greater Valley YMCA. \u201cWe look forward to being able to use these boxes not only this year but also in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Curriculum areas covered through this program include: literacy, math, science and social-emotional skills.
