CENTER VALLEY, Pa. \u2014 Penn State Lehigh Valley will begin offering a spring Bookkeeping course starting in April, with an online, self-paced portion beginning in March.<\/p>\n

Bookkeeping Course I starts with a self-paced portion covering debits and credits from March 2-27, 2020 for a student who wants to begin a career in bookkeeping. There are no prerequisites for this course. The cost is $450.<\/p>\n

Bookkeeping Course II, which begins April 7 and runs for 13 weeks, is for people with two years of bookkeeping experience. Students who are new to the field must first take the Understanding Debits and Credits online, self-paced course.<\/p>\n

Course II is offered on Tuesday nights at the Penn State Abington campus for 3 hours per night once a week for 13 weeks. Penn State Lehigh Valley students will access the class at Penn State Abington via Zoom at the Lehigh Valley campus. There is an additional 3 or more hours of course work weekly that must be completed online via the Canvas platform. The course is a total of 75 hours.\u00a0Two of the certification tests are taken in class and two are taken at a test center while the course is ongoing. The cost is $1,795 and includes all textbooks.<\/p>\n

\u201cBookkeeping is a high demand profession. The demand for bookkeepers increases as more small businesses enter the marketplace. Business owners need to be supported by professionals who can handle the finances of their business,\u201d said Cindy Evans, education program associate, Penn State Lehigh Valley.<\/p>\n

Classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. on consecutive Tuesdays starting April 7at the Lehigh Valley campus located at 2809 Saucon Valley Road in Center Valley. For more information, visit the\u00a0Bookkeeping course information website.<\/a><\/p>\n
